Mother Daughter Circle

Thursdays starting March 31

The mother-daughter relationship during adolescence is one of the most widely recognized and commonly shared challenges; and now you and your daughter can join a Mother Daughter Circle that will foster a greater relationship together. This could be a profound opportunity to help increase positive communication for both of you.

The program is made up of 8 sessions that last 1½ hours each.   During these sessions, you will have whole group activities as well as small group components in which you and your daughter meet separately to address role-specific challenges, needs and strategies.  The whole group comes together again for sharing of stories or messages, commitments, and acknowledgments. There will only be space for eight pairs of mother and daughters.

The Mother Daughter circle provides a safe, consistent, and strengths-based approach to supporting mothers and daughters and will encourage:

• Empathy and Understanding

Girl Power Day!
April 2nd, 2011

Girl Power Day is a fun action packed day for girls 7-10 years old to develop high self-esteem, confidence and self-knowledge through creative activities. Girl Power Day focuses on issues important to girls like friendship, positive thinking, body image, healthy eating, relaxation skills, and movement; and embraces a holistic approach of mind body and spirit.

What happens in Girl Power Day?

  • Positive Self Image: Girls will learn how important it is to have positive thoughts about themselves and their bodies and will learn how to change downward spiraling thoughts into upward spiraling thoughts.
  • Healthy Relationships: Friendship is essential to girls but often there are conflicts and friction.  Girls learn about passive, aggressive and assertive communication through role playing and acting
  • Healthy Cooking:  Girls will prepare and cook a healthy vegetarian lunch as well as learn about nutrition and importance of healthy eating
  • Wisdom from Within:  Learning to self calm and reduce stress is essential and girls will experience the peace of creative visualizations
  • Movement and Dance: Girls will have fun learning to belly dance as exercise and movement makes girls feel great and empowered
