Quality language learning in Nyon, the heart of La Côte.

You will not find classrooms, desks, chalk, rulers or computers at Class One. Instead, we have communicative, functional learning environments. Areas creating the atmosphere necessary for communicative language learning either privately or in groups. Our emphasis is on learning to speak and understand first. You can already read and write. With understanding comes the ability to transfer these skills to your new language.

We also want to introduce you to reality in language learning. Our Vital French modules for instance, will take you out into the real world to practise your new language you have learned. So, after learning some basic vocabulary and expressions to ask for something, your teacher will take you to a café to put your learning into reality. Later, you will be buying a bus ticket, asking for directions and posting a letter at the post office. You will be living in French in no time!

Our examination preparation uses a similar approach. You will use your lesson time working and improving the oral, listening and interactive skills necessary for examination success. Of course you will need to do a lot of work on your reading, writing and structure, but you will do much of this for homework. Your teacher will guide you on your workload necessary for success.

Our business courses follow this same functional, communicative approach with courses adapted to the reality of your business domain.

I am a fully qualified primary school teacher with ten years teaching experience. I have recently set up a small classroom in Chêne-Bougeries. I cater for children who are being schooled in the Swiss system but need to keep up to scratch with their reading and writing skills in English or for children who need a little extra help because they are finding schoolwork difficult. I work two days a week. Each day is split into two sessions, morning and afternoon. Tuesdays are for pre-school children and Wednesdays are for children aged between 4 and 11. Each session lasts 3 hours and costs 65chf. The work is based on literature we read and some time within the lesson the children work creatively, for instance, working in drama, painting, modeling, baking or sewing.

The session blends old and new teaching skills. Many resources - English lending library, Oxford Reading Tree Scheme, Jollyphonics, new computer access and a music corner.

The WAC (an English-speaking club/school) in Uster runs a great intermediate (around level B1) German course on Thursday evenings from 8:00 - 9:30 pm.

An Xpat reports: "We're looking for a couple of new participants for the new school year beginning 21st August, 2009. The teacher is fantastic and the class is relaxed and as an added bonus, it's pretty much the least expensive class I've seen."
