Chalet Espen is a characterful chalet located in the beautiful mountain resort of Engelberg - just an hour and a half drive from Zurich, Basel and Bern. We welcome guests to Chalet Espen throughout the year.

Chalet Espen’s accommodation is unique in Engelberg.  The original part of Chalet Espen dates back to the 1700s and is one of the oldest buildings in Engelberg. The chalet was extended in the last century and we have recently renovated and refurbished it to a very high standard.  The chalet is just a 6 minute walk to the main cable car station in Engelberg, with beautiful views all around.

We normally accommodate up to 14 guests, although there are two additional bedrooms for larger groups of up to 18.  Children are welcome.  Our bedrooms are extremely comfortable and most are en-suite with modern bathrooms.  We also have a large lounge with open fire, board games, Ipod docking station, Xbox, DVDs, magazines, books etc.  Wireless internet and satellite tv are also available in the chalet.  Outside we have a large garden with seating area as well as car parking for guests. 

In the Summer months we offer mainly bed and breakfast accommodation, although half board may be possible for larger groups.  At this time of the year you can arrive at Chalet Espen on any day of the week, and stay for as long as you like (although we do have a minimum stay of 3 nights).   In the Winter ski season we accommodate guests on a half board basis (breakfast, afternoon tea and 4 course evening meal), Sunday to Sunday.  While most guests stay for a week in the Winter, shorter stays are sometimes possible. 

Overall, we aim to offer a relaxed and friendly environment, with high standards of service and accommodation at a reasonable price.

Engelberg itself is one of the original Swiss mountain resorts, with a spectacular setting and superb facilities for visitors.  Engelberg offers fantastic skiing in the Winter (especially off-piste) and in the Summer there are over 360 kilometres of walking and hiking trails to enjoy as well as cycling and mountain biking, climbing, via ferrata, golf (an 18 hole course) and swimming.  Engelberg is also an excellent base for exploring further afield - pretty much anywhere in Switzerland can be reached in a day and Luzern is just a 20 minute drive or short train journey away.
